Westmont High School CSF/Honor Roll Club

Congratulations to all new CSF and Honor Roll Members!
Flyers will be given out with the end of the month newsletter and in the PTSA newsletter which is coming out soon.

Remember, all CSF/Honor Roll Club students' points are due May 5th. NO EXCEPTIONS! Turn in community service points to room 53. Fundraising points can be earned Monday through Wednesday at Fresh Choice or by buying a $7 mousepad in room 28. You need 5 fundraising and 5 community service points to keep your active status for fall semester and 10 of each enable students to go on the spring trip in May to San Francisco.

DON'T FORGET! Any violation of the Westmont High School Academic Code of Conduct results in a loss of membership for the semester. Two violations and you are permanently out.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask Mrs. Heinrichsen in Rm.28, or Mrs. Walton in Rm.53.

Community Service

ALL POINTS ARE DUE May 5th, NO EXCEPTIONS!!
Community Service Adviser: Mrs. Walton (Rm. 53)

Volunteer Opportunity at the Youth Science Institute!
The Youth Science Institute is upgrading their Animal Care Logs to electronic form. The Youth Science Institute needs volunteers to copy the old logs into the computer. You don't need any computer experience! Free training on site! This is the easiest way to get volunteer hours... no walking around collecting trash; you get to sit in an air conditioned room and copy paperwork into the computer. This opportunity has limited availability, so sign up now! There are 3 spots remaining. To register, call 408-356-4945 (or 408-258-4322 if she is not at the Vasona center) and ask for DJ. Tell her you are interested in helping with the Electronic Animal Care Logs.

For upcoming events make sure you listen to the morning announcements and check the case by the library. Signups and more information are on the red bulletin board in Room 53. Remember that you cannot use the same events for two clubs unless you split the hours! Please read the top of your community service form for further information. If you have questions about whether your activities will count, see Mrs. Walton in Room 53 to check beforehand.

The best type of community service is one that is ongoing. Colleges like to see that you are committed to helping your community. Finding a place to volunteer on a regular basis long term would be best. You can try hospitals, shelters, food banks, the Humane Society, etc.

Other ideas for community service: Park cleanup, Second Harvest Food Bank, City Team Ministries, Vasona Park toy donation & gift wrapping --see newspaper under volunteer opportunities, etc. Also ask your favorite teacher if they need any help.

Fundraising

ALL POINTS ARE DUE May 5th, NO EXCEPTIONS!!

The Fresh Choice nights were a success, and candy is being sold this week! (April 24 - 28) Pick up your bag in room 28 for $7.50 during tutorial or after school. Remember, you can only purchase one bag per day, so don't forget!
Fundraising points can also be earned at Fresh Choice or by buying a $7 mousepad in room 28.

Officers

CONGRATULATIONS to the 2006-2007 CSF Executive Board! Thank you to all that applied. We had an overwhelming response and it was a very difficult decision. We hope that those of you who did not get a position will still be actively involved in the club and perhaps you can apply again next year.
